I’m so happy we can all get together again. We are very lucky to have Brain Dean Sousa as the Artistic Director for the SOUTHCOAST FESTIVAL OF CHOIRS PRESENTED BY MUSIC AT SAINT ANTHONYS for a Christmas concert this year. Dan Marshall and I will be teaming up with Brian for this event. We are fundraising for the repair and painting of the stained-glass window frames. It’s a huge job, and we are assembling a (I hope a GIANT) choir for this! Let’s get 100 singers to join in!
For this concert, The Spirit of St. Anthony Choir will be called the St. Anthony Community Choir.
Here is the important information:
CONCERT DATE – SATURDAY - DECEMBER 5 - AT 6:30 PM
All day rehearsal for the different choirs. St. Anthony Community Choir (our group) has a dedicated rehearsal time at 12:00pm. The time for all the choirs to join together for rehearsal is 2:30. There will be a dinner break after that – I am hoping to arrange food for a light meal.
MEET AND GREET FOR MUSIC DISTRIBUTION at St. Anthony Church Hall. (MONDAY August 24 pm TO 7:00 PM-8:30)
I don’t have the price for the music yet, but it will be under $10. We will serve cookies and coffee or tea, so come catch up with everyone – even if you can’t sing this year (But you really should try!).
REHEARSALS WILL BE AT THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH IN THE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM
The address is 136 Earle St. (near the Portuguese Feast grounds. There is a school parking lot that is well lit. Please all park heading in the same direction. There will be a sign on the door to enter.
REHEARSAL DATES
The day of the week for the six rehearsals will be different so that people can make the most rehearsals, even if there is a conflict with their own choir day.

Friday, October 23 | 7:00 – 8:30
Sunday, November 8 | 7:00 – 8:30
Monday, November 16 | 7:00 – 8:30
WE HAVE NO SATURDAY (Dress) REHEARSAL BECAUSE SATURDAY IS THE CONCERT DAY
MUSIC: Because this is a Festival or Choirs, there are 3 or 4 other choirs joining us. Each will perform separately and then join the sing along. Brian has arranged for New Bedford Symphony Brass to participate.
St. Anthony Community Choir will present a beloved French Carol, Il est né le Divin Enfant. All participating singers will then join together as the Festival of Choirs to perform the following
Christmas carols in the classic arrangements by Sir David Willcocks:
- O Come, All Ye Faithful
- God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen
- The First Nowell
- Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
- Silent Night
- Joy to the World
With six rehearsals, we will all be very well prepared, I am sure.
Please invite everyone you know who would love to join us as well. This is the perfect concert to try out choral singing, because everyone knows all the English carols. I would really love to see if we can get 100 singers! That would be so lovely!
